Dear Tea House Friends,

I've just returned from Reno where we have been preparing for the construction of the Saraswati Tea House. Here is an update which will give you an idea of how our project is progressing.

On Monday, Kaya and I purchased many yards of white fabric to create a serene interior space for the Tea House. We've also purchased the foam for the daybeds and sofas, interior and exterior lighting and a heater to keep the space toasty during those long nights on the playa. Camp Above the Limit has graciously donated small tables that we will use for both interior and exterior tea service. Kaya is making flags for outside the Tea House and Twilight is working with an artist to create lovely Tea House banners and signs.

We have ordered and received our hot water heaters and thermoses. I am making a shopping trip to Chinatown in San Francisco today to purchase tea pots and cups.

Our collection of rugs for the tea house continues to grow. We have some nice oriental rugs that we will bring. If you have white, light colored or blue rugs that you can lend us for the Tea House, that would be most welcome. We are also accepting donations of floor cushions. We have purchased some nice blue fabric to cover our existing collection of pillows. We are seeking those with sewing skills to help us make some simple pillow cases. Please let us know if you have these skills and would like to use them on the playa.

A few other requests. We have a Tea House friend who is looking for a truck with a fifth wheel hitch to haul their trailer to the playa. If you know someone who can rent such a truck, please let us know.

Also, we are seeking volunteers to help us pack up the Tea House and other parts of our ATL camp after the Burn. If you, or someone you know, could help us anytime from Sunday, September 4th to Wednesday, September 7 as we pack and clean up, we would be very grateful. We are a Leave No Trace camp. All volunteers who help us pack up and tidy our camp will be invited to join us at the fabulous Tea House After Party in Reno during the week of September 5th. Stay tuned for more news on that.

A final thanks to those who have signed up for the Tea House shifts. If you have not signed up yet, please do so. I will be posting a preliminary schedule before we leave again for Reno for final Tea House preparations.

Namaste

Annie
