We're Talking Turkey---tail

Autumn is the time to visit the Fair Site if you are interested in mushroom hunting, for that is when those mysterious fruiting bodies often appear in the most unusual of places. This specimen, found growing on Abbey Rode, is called a turkey-tail (Trametes versicolor) for obvious reasons. Characterized by its inverted, semi-circular, overlapping and fused shape, with concentric multicolored rings with alternating smooth and velvety zones, it is tough and long lasting. It is common throughout North America.
