This is a misfeature of the "free" game mode. In ranked games, this does
not happen, unfortunately in free games the human can override the
program. You can try asking wms for the reasons, I have already heard
many complaints about this.
(On the other hand, looking at games where my program lost by points
instead of resigning - as it always should if losing - has helped me
find quite a few bugs.)
