Hi friends and tea-servers!
Just a short note via WiFi from the Playa. Our pre-event build camp
has ten people and more are arriving every day. The teahouse
structure is built and partly decorated; we're starting on other
structures. We served our first ceremonial tea yesterday evening.
The weather has been kind to us since I got here Tuesday AM, with
temperatures in the 90s, mild winds, and little dust. Evenings pretty
warm, no lower than 60 degrees. I hear the dust is much worse on the
3:00 side of the event.
Our camp has a surplus of food, courtesy of Treva who cooked for the
pre-event builders. We expect to have a surplus of water too, with
two big tanks being filled tomorrow or so. Err slightly on the light
side, rather than bringing "too much" food and water "to share". This
will make your packing easier.
We're looking forward to seeing y'all out here. Don't forget to sign
up for multiple shifts serving tea, if you haven't already.
There is flaky cellphone service here, which will probably degenerate
into unusability by next week when all the metal RVs and iPhones arrive.
Texting works better than calling. If you have questions, you can try
texting me here at +1 415 513 7871. Email will get slower response.
Dusty sippy love,
"Cheddar" John
