Dear Friends of the Tea House,
Hello from Black Rock City. We have been on the playa at 9:15 and C since Tuesday building the Tea House and other structures. The weather has been beautiful, no major dust storms, warm at night. The playa surface is great for bike riding and there is lots of art to see out here. There was a beautiful sunset tonight.
For the past week, the Tea House has been the main sleeping and gathering area for our camp - Above the Limit. Today we finished building the third of four domes in camp plus a kitchen area and the Costco Barn Hotel for camp residents. We are expecting about 150 people in our camp this year, plus a stage and a speaker series. Two of our major camp neighbors, Flow and Dust Hazard cited their structures today and we number about thirty people tonight.
Tomorrow will be our first Tea House meeting which we will have every day at 10 am. The Tea House is about 720 square feet this year with a large front porch and a circular tea bar. We will do some training tomorrow in how to serve tea and welcome guests. We plan to begin serving at 6 pm tomorrow when the gates open.
We are assembling an exceptional group of people at our camp this year and we hope you will all join us. Thanks to all those who have signed up for shifts. Most of the early part of the week is now covered. For those of you coming in tomorrow through the gate, safe travels. Come look for us near the 9:00 plaza down the street from the 9:00 medical station. We will see you in the dust.
