The exact error was:

SEVERE: Unexpected disconnect: Error "No buffer space available (maximum
connections reached?): connect" while connecting to machine
"secret-machine-name".
FINE: Will wait 5 minutes, then try to connect again

Eventually it worked, after about 10 retries, and stayed connected all
night, then found a tournament game at 7:43 AM and played against stonegrid.

Then FINE: game is over and scored

Then at 2:09 PM
SEVERE: Unexpected disconnect. The connection to the server has been closed
unexpectedly. You must log in again.
