Perhaps, or one could consider it a nice incentive to fix the issue.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone actually announced that they would
stop participating because of integer komi?

Too bad, I think 7 komi would have been interesting.

I suppose there is no hope of persuading you to try 6.5 komi +
Japanese rules... :-)
